500 poor patients receive free eye treatment in Tangail
About 500 poverty-stricken elderly people of Shakhipur in Tangail received eye treatment along with medicines free of charge on Tuesday at a daylong eye camp in Barochowna in the district.
 
Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Prabin Kalyan Kendra organised the free camp. 
The event was inaugurated by Kalia Union Parishad Chairman SM Kamrul Hasan while founder of the Prabin Kalyan Kendra Shahjalal Chowdhury presided it over. Former Deputy Director of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Mohammad Shamsul Huq spoke as the chief guest. Former chairman Abdul Halim Sarkar, Prof Khan Mohammad Selim, freedom fighter Mazharul Islam, Abdul Hai, Barochowna Bazar Banik Samity former president Abdus Sattar and Awami League leader Aynal Huq also spoke.
 
Some 50 eye patients have been chosen who will undergo surgery on March 28 at Bashundhara Eye Hospital. Specialists of the hospital MA Khaleq and Majibar Rahman administered treatment in the camp.
 
Dr MA Khaleq said Bashundhara Eye Hospital is serving the poor on humanitarian grounds. 
Founder of Prabin Kalyan Kendra Shahjalal Chowdhury said such type of initiative was also taken earlier by Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Prabin Kalyan Kendra.
 
He expressed his gratitude to Bashundhara Eye Hospital for such a noble initiative.
