Bangladesh Pratidin steps into 13th year of publication

Bangladesh Pratidin, the country’s highest-circulated Bangla daily, steps into the 13th year of its publication on Tuesday.

Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir inaugurated the anniversary celebrations of the newspaper by cutting a cake along with distinguished guests at a programme at the conference room of East West Media Group Ltd (EWMGL) in the capital on Monday evening.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, Awami League Organising Secretary Mirza Azam, MP, Tahzeeb Alam Siddique, MP, Pir Fazlur Rahman, MP, BNP Organising Secretary Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu, The Daily Observer Editor and former Media Advisor to Prime Minister Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, FBCCI Director Nasir Majumder and Minister (Press) at Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi Shaban Mahmud attended the programme.

Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam moderated the event while EWMGL Director Imdadul Haq Milan, Kaler Kantho Editor Shahed Muhammad Ali, Daily Sun Editor Enamul Hoque Chowdhury and its Executive Editor Rezaul Karim Lotus, News24 Executive Editor Rahul Raha were also present on the occasion.

In his speech, Minister Hasan Mahmud said Bangladesh Pratidin is the highest-circulated daily in the country and it passed 12 years with success. “The acceptance of the Bangladesh Pratidin is at all levels and the daily is different from others as it publishes all news stories in 12 pages. It’s a newspaper of mass people,” he said.

He expressed the hope that the Bangladesh Pratidin will work as co-fighter of the government to implement the dreams of the Father of the Nation upholding the spirit of the War of Liberation.

“A newspaper can unmask the uncovered stories of society and play an important role in attracting the attention of the responsible persons concerned to resolve the problems. I hope the daily will help us in future like it did in the past to fulfil the dreams and goals of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina-led government,” the minister said.

Congratulating all the journalists and employees of the newspaper, Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir said the daily has passed 12 years of publication successfully. “It’s a team work. No organisation can do well without team work. I hope you’ll do better in the days to come,” he said.

The broadsheet Bangla daily, a concern of country’s leading industrial conglomerate Bashundhara Group, started its journey on March 15, 2010.
