Bashundhara Group aids flood-hit people
Bashundhara Group provided food aid for flood-affected people in two unions — Alokdia Char and Char Shivalaya — under Shivalaya Upazila of Manikganj under the supervision of East West Media Group Limited (EWMGL).
A total of 500 families received the food assistance on Thursday. Manikganj Deputy Commissioner SM Ferdous was present as the chief guest.
Shivalaya Assistant Commissioner Land Farasit Alam, Upazila Vice-Chairmen Miraz Hossain and Runa Aktar, Shivalaya Union Parishad Chairman Alal Hossain and Teota Union Parishad Chairman Abdul Quader were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner SM Ferdous said Bashundhara Group has set an example by lending a helping hand to the flood victims amid the coronavirus pandemic.
He also expressed his gratitude to Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan for his philanthropic role.
“Bashundhara Group Chairman’s Chief Advisor Mahbub Morshed Hasan Runu has maintained regular communication with district administration for getting relief to flood-affected people,” said the Manikganj DC.
Talking to journalist, Advisor Mahbub Morshed Hasan Runu said the business conglomerate has reached out to 10,000 families with masks, hand sanitizers and medicine amid the coronavirus outbreak.
He said that the humanitarian activity will continue until the flood situation improves and Covid-19 subsides.
Bashundhara Group has been conducting relief activities in association with Manikganj District administration, police, municipalities and other social organisations.
