Bashundhara Group Independence Cup Kabaddi begins

Bashundhara Group Independence Cup Kabaddi’s final leg was inaugurated amid much fanfare at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium (STAIS) in the capital on Friday.
The tournament is being organised by Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation (BKF) and being sponsored by Bashundhara Group.
Bangladesh Olympic Associations (BOA) Secretary General Syed Shahed Reza inaugurated the tournament as the chief guest. BKF President and Inspector General of Police Dr Javed Patwary presided over the opening ceremony. The BOA chief praised the organisers and hoped that the competition will entertain the sports enthusiasts of the country.
Bagura and Khulna competed in the inaugural match of the day. Khulna emerged as the winners of the first match by 47-36 points.
In the second match of the day, Sylhet beat Mymensingh by 39-27 points.
Earlier on Thursday, a press conference was organised regarding the event at BOA auditorium in the capital where Bashundhara Group was announced the sponsor of this meet. The logo of the tournament was also unveiled during the event.
Eight district level teams are split into two groups competing in the three-day tournament.
Group A: Bagura, Khulna, Mymensingh and Sylhet.
Group B: Kurigram, Barishal, Madaripur and Chattogram.
