Bashundhara Group stands by flood-hit people in Sylhet, Kanaighat – Daily Sun
Bashundhara Group driven by humanitarian gesture has given emergency reliefs for the people affected by the devastating floods in Sylhet and Kanaighat.
As per directive of Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir, the high officials of the largest business conglomerate went to the areas and stood by the flood affected people.
They handed over 5,500 packets of relief to the district administration in Sylhet and distributed 2,500 packets in Kanaighat. In Sylhet, handover of relief took place at district administration premises.
Sylhet Deputy Commissioner Md Mozibor Rahman and district relief and rehabilitation officer Md Nurul Islam received the relief packets from the officials of the Bashundhara Group.
Foreign Adviser to Bashundhara Group Dr Sazzad Haider, Head of Public Relation Sheikh Mohammad Mizanur Rahman and Maj Zubayer Ahmed Sarker, Squadron Leader Golam Mostafa, Lt Abdul Mannan and Secretary to Managing Director Aminul Islam were present.
Addressing the occasion, DC Md Mozibor Rahman said “After Surma River, the Kushiyara started to overflow. The reliefs, water, dry foods and cash given by the government were already distributed among flood victims. Now, private sector has come forward. We have received the relief items from the country’s largest business conglomerate Bashundhara Group. We will send the reliefs properly to the affected people.”
Dr Sazzad Haider said “Bashundhara Group always stands by the people during any natural calamity and critical juncture. The present situation is not an exception. The largest business conglomerate will continue to show its humanitarian gesture in the days to come.”
Besides, the Bashundhara Group disbursed 2,500 sacks of relief at Jamia Islamia Darul Ulum Darul Hadith Kanaighat Madrasa with the help of army. Major Ahmedur Rahman and Captain Sharif Ahmed, among others, were present.
Earlier, Bashundhara Group distributed 20,000 packets of relief among the flood-hit destitute in Sylhet and Sunamganj.
