Bashundhara Kings dominating
Bashundhara Kings looked set for yet another victory as they led Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society by 2–1 goals in the first half of their Bangladesh Premier League Fixture at Bangabandhu National Stadium in the capital on Wednesday.
Bashundhara Kings commenced the match with their aggressive intent and took no time to score their first goal courtesy of their spectacular forward Daniel Colindres at the 10th minute of the game and doubled their lead on the 25th minute of the match against the old town outfit. These early strikes by Bashundhara Kings put Rahmatgonj under a lot of pressure early on in the match.
Rahmatgonj forward Rakibul Islam attempted to fight back for his team as he scored a goal at the 42nd minute of the match. Bashundahara Kings went into the first half with a 2-1 goal lead in the first half.
Earlier, Bashundhara Kings further consolidated their claim to clinch the 13-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2018-2018 season title beating Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra by 4-1 goals at Sheikh Kamal Stadium in Nilphamari on Saturday.
With the well-merited victory, star-studded Bashundhara Kings maintained their unbeaten run as the only team in the league securing 46 points from 16 league matches with 15 wins and one draw, seven points ahead of holders and nearest rivals Abahani Limited which have 39 points from 16 encounters.
Freedom fighters’ team Muktijoddha SKC remained at the 8th slot with their previous credit of 17 points from 17 matches with four wins, five draws and eight defeats.
In the match, defender Mohammed Nasir Uddin Chowdhury netted two goals while Brazilian striker Marcos Vinicius and midfielder Sheikh Alamgir Kabir Rana scored one goal each for high-flying Bashundhara Kings while forward Mehadi Hassan Royal netted the consolation goal for Muktijoddha SKC.
Hosts Bashundhara Kings got an early blow when Royal scored for Muktijoddha SKC in the 12th minute to the frustration of the big-budgeted team (0-1).
Mohammed Nasir Uddin Chowdhury put Bashundhara Kings in a better position scoring two goals in a span of 15 minutes, first in the 33rd minute and then in the stoppage time of the first half (45+4 minute) to dominate the first half 2-1.
