Bashundhara Kings overpower New Radiant

Bashundhara Kings launched their campaign to glory with a sensational win as they completely outplayed Maldivian champions New Radiant Sports Club by 4-1 goals in their club friendly match at Bashundhara Kings’ home-venue Sheikh Kamal Stadium in Nilphamari on Friday.
Bashundhara Kings home-venue Nilphamari continued to shine as the heartland for football’s revival in Bangladesh as crowds came in large number to watch Kings take on Maldivian champions New Radiant.
The occasion was adorned with the presence of Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor along with Maldives’ Ambassador to Bangladesh Aishath Shaan Shakir.
Bashundhara Kings President Imrul Hassan and General Secretary Minhajul Islam Minhaj were welcomed with huge cheers from the stand.
Kings started the match in royal fashion, as they ought to. They might have earned their first goal of the match if not for the presence of mind of New Radiants’ goalie.
New Radiants’ defence seem to be crumbling away as Bashundhara Kings’ Costa Rican forward Daniel Colindres and Kervens fils Belfort made inroads into Radiants’ D-box.
Fortune favoured the brave and skilled as Kings took the early lead in the 19th minute of the match courtesy of a brilliant touch by their Haitian forward Kervens fils Belfort. Belfort toed the ball into the nets off a sensational center of Kings prized recruit Daniel Colindres.
Kings went on to attack from the both the wings constantly which lead Radiants midfield into disarray
Now it was the turn of Kings skipper Tawhidul Islam Sabuj to lead by example and he scored the second goal from a fantastic header on the 21st minute of the match from a right wing cross from Belfort.
Radiants tried to go on counter-attack but without much success as they were losing the ball just as they were entering midfield.
Bashundhara went into the half-time break with a lead of 2-0.
The Kings of the North, restarted the match with the same zeal and hunger for goal which characterized their first-half performance.
Goal-fest went on for Bashundhara Kings in the second half as well. Kings’ foreign attack-spearhead Zallu scored a stunner on the 51st minute and took Bashundhara to a 3-0 lead.
But the climax was yet nothing but far from the sight as Bashundhara Kings’ domination went on. It was the turn of Bangladesh National Football Team’s Young-Turk Mahbubur Rahman Sufil to have his share of the pie as he gave Bashundhara Kings the fourth goal.
Coming in from the right-wing, Sufil utilised the cross from the left-wing to utter perfection and gently placed the ball into the nets.
Moments later, New Radiant had their lone consolatory goal of the match from their Ugandan forward Capson who scored the goal for his team from a counter-attack which saw Kings’ goalie fist the ball into the air and Capson seizing on the opportunity with perfection.
Kings created more chances in the extra-time but could not turn the opportunities into goals and the match ended with the scoreline of 4-1 for Bashundhara Kings. The attacking play shown by Kings’ in this match might send a message of caution for their fellow clubs in the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League 2018-2019.
