CHITTAGONG: Bashundhara LP Gas Limited, a concern of the country’s leading business conglomerate Bashundhara Group, organised a safety campaign in the port city on Wednesday.
A total of 150 housewives took part in the programme titled ‘Safety Campaign’ held at Ambrosia Restaurant in the city’s Agrabad area.
Head of Division, Sales Mir TI Faruk Rijvy of the Bashundhara LP Gas Limited was present as the chief guest at the programme while eminent actress Dipa Khandakar was also present.Addressing the programme, Faruk Rijvy said Bashundhara organised the workshop aiming at making housewives aware about safety and benefit of using LP gas.
“We have already organised 30 workshops in different districts of the country to make them aware of the LP Gas,” he added.
“We very often come to know through media about different unexpected accidents by explosion of gas cylinder causing damage of lives and properties in different areas of the country,” said Faruk.
“Most of the explosions take place due to substandard cylinders and lack of awareness among the users,” he observed.
Bashundhara LP Gas Limited has been producing and marketing safe cylinders after proper laboratory tests and maintaining standards, he informed at the programme.
Faruk also put up different aspects of safety, identifying the substandard cylinders and tackling accidents from leakage and explosion of cylinders.Lauding the initiative, actress Dipa said the participants will be benefited through the workshop.
She said two hours of housewives will also be saved everyday if they use the LP Gas at their houses.
A quiz and raffle draw were also held at the programme where the participants took part spontaneously.
Later, the winners of quiz and raffle draw were handed over prizes by the guests.
Mentionable, the company has started its fourth round of the nationwide awareness and safety campaign recently.  The campaign will be conducted in all parts of the country gradually to raise awareness about the proper use of LP gas to avert any untoward accident.
