Football tourney held in memory of Sheikh Russel

Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) President Kazi Salahuddin inaugurated the ‘One Day Festival Football Tournament-2017’ in the morning.
A total of eight teams participated in the tournament. The BKSP became the champions, beating Kashaituli Samaj Kalyan Parishad.
Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Ltd Chairman and Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir was present at the function as the chief guest and distributed prizes among the winners.
Speaking on the occasion, he said, “We have enjoyed the games.
We have sponsored the tournament in memory of Sheikh Russel. We will continue to organise such a tournament every year in future. In his address, Secretary Ibrahim Hossain congratulated Bashundhara Group for organising such an important tournament in memory of Sheikh Russel, the youngest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Ltd, a renowned football club of the country, held the tournament, celebrating the 54th birthday of Sheikh Russel, who was killed along with most of his family members, including his father, on August 15, 1975.
The BKSP became the champions in the tournament, beating Kashaituli Samaj Kalyan Parishad in a penalty shoot-out by 4-3 goals. The winner got Tk 50,000 while the runner-up received Tk 25,000.
T&T Club Motijheel achieved Fair Play award in the tournament. Jakir Hossain of Kashaituli Samaj Kalyan Parishad was named the player of the tournament while Rajib Islam of the BKSP was selected the best goalkeeper.
