Germany keen to invest in Bangladesh
Dhaka, March 9, 2010: – German Ambassador in Dhaka Mr. Holger Michael has recently expressed keen interest of the German investors to come and invest in textile, apparel, electro-mechanical engineering and other potential sectors here in Bangladesh.
The German envoy said that trade and commerce between the two friendly countries had been on the rise in the recent years and would ultimately reach the level of expectation in the years ahead. He also referred to the recent trade policy and the duty free access of the Bangladeshi products in Germany.
Mr. Holger Michale had been exchanging views with the Chairman of Bashundhara Group Mr. Ahmed Akbar Sobhan after attending a contract signing ceremony at the conference hall of the Group’s corporate office recently.
Chairman of the Bashundhara Group Mr. Ahmed Akbar Sobhan welcomed German private investment in Bangladesh and pledged all possible support from his side. He also narrated the potentiality, the existing and anticipated investment friendly environment in the country.
The BG Chairman also briefed the German envoy about the overall operations of the enterprises within the group and the upcoming projects. They also discussed different issues of bilateral interest.
The German envoy admitted that he had become aware of the Bashundhara Group and its enterprises and praised the roles of the East West Property Development (EWPD) in addressing the fast increasing housing problem in the capital city. He also called the housing and land development projects as the “unique” in the region and even in Asia.
