A total of eight trainee officers of 2017 batch of Indian Foreign Service and two of Bhutanese Foreign Service visited the East West Media Group Ltd (EWMGL) complex in the city on Wednesday.
Led by Vishal Jyoti Das, second secretary (Information and Culture) of Indian High Commission in Dhaka, the Indo-Bhutanese delegation visited the complex in the afternoon.
During their visit, the delegation exchanged views with editors and reporters of the six media outlets of the EWMGL at its conference room.
Naem Nizam, editor of the daily Bangladesh Pratidin, Imdadul Haq Milon, editor of the daily Kaler Kantho, Enamul Hoque Chowdhury, editor of the daily Sun, spoke at the views-exchange meeting.
Naem Nizam, also the CEO of News 24 and Radio Capital, said India is the best friend of Bangladesh.
“I would love to express my happiness having Indian and Bhutanese friends here,” he added.
He said such kind of visits will further strengthen bilateral relations among the neighboring countries.
Enamul Hoque Chowdhury, who also served as a diplomat, said: “You the trainee diplomats should keep two things in mind for successful career and life. Firstly, you need to maintain personal rapport very cordially and secondly you have to be cool in any unwarranted circumstances.”
Imdadul Haq Milon, also a celebrated litterateur, thanked Indian and Bhutanese diplomats for visiting the complex.
Executive Editor of the daily Kaler Kantho Mostofa Kamal and Executive Editor of the daily Sun Shiabur Rahman Shihab also spoke on the occasion, among others.
Jewel Mazhar, consultant editor of Banglanews24.com, and Hasnain Khurshid, executive director of News24, and Samia Rahman, head of current affairs of News 24, also attended the event.
The delegation later went round different desks of the offices of the daily Sun, the daily Kaler Kantho, the daily Bangladesh Pratidin, Banglanews24.com, News 24 and Radio Capital.
The members of the delegation enquired and learnt about different tasks of media and journalism from working journalists.
It may be mentioned that the delegation arrived in Dhaka on Monday for one week as part of their professional training programme.
