Kings, Sk Jamal, Sk Russel observe National Mourning Day

Country’s prominent football clubs namely Bashundhara Kings, Lt Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Ltd, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra and Dhaka Abahani Ltd observed National Mourning Day on Saturday.
Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and most of his family members were brutally assassinated by a group of conspiring army officers on this day in 1975.
Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) champions Bashundhara Kings released a TVC to pay homage to Bangabandhu. Club’s Marketing and Media Manager Ahmed Shaaek told daily sun, “We launched the TVC on March 16 for Mujib Borsho, it was appreciated by a lot of people that time. Now, we have officially released it on August 15 to pay tribute to Bangabandhu. Three electronic media broadcasted it.” Lt Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Ltd arranged a discussion programme on Bangabandhu’s colorful life and organised dua-mahfil at its premises in Dhanmondi. Sheikh Jamal coach Shafiqul Islam Manik said, “Club directors, members and officials placed floral wreaths before Bangabandhu’s portrait at his house in Dhanmondi Road No 32. Later, we arranged a discussion program on Bangabandhu’s colorful life and a doa-mahfil at the club premises.”
Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra officials placed floral wreaths at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib, Sheikh Russel and other martyrs’ graves in the city’s Banani Graveyard. Besides, the club arranged Quran Khwani and dua at the club premises. Sheikh Russel Director In-charge Ismot Jamil Akand Lavlu, Director (Sports) Saleh Zaman Selim and Director (Finance) Abdul Latif were present on the occasion.
Bangladesh Football Federation organised Quran Khwani, Milad and distributed food among deprived people at BFF House in Motijheel to observe the 45th martyrdom anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members.
Dhaka Abahani Limited arranged a day-long program at the Abahani playground in Dhanmondi. Abahani team manager Satyajit Das Rupu said, “We placed floral wreaths before Sheikh Kamal’s portrait. Besides, we arranged a day-long Quran Khwani, food distribution program and special dua for the departed souls of Bangabandhu, Sheikh Kamal and their other family members.”
