After completing four months of intensive sewing training, 20 underprivileged women from Boalkhali, Chattogram, are transforming their newfound skills into opportunities. Sumi, Sanjeeda, and their peers proudly displayed their handcrafted garments for women and children. With sewing machines donated by Bashundhara Shuvosangho, they are now equipped to weave a brighter and more self-reliant future.
The distribution ceremony took place on Sunday morning at Gomdandi Pilot High School grounds in Boalkhali Upazila. Bashundhara Shuvosangho organized the event, attended by notable guests including Additional Superintendent of Police (Patia Circle) Ariful Islam, Bashundhara Shuvosangho Director Zakaria Zaman, Central General Secretary Rana Mitra, Kaler Kantho’s Chattogram Bureau Chief Mustafa Naeem, Boalkhali Branch General Secretary MA Taleb, Boalkhali Press Club President Sirajul Islam, and trainers Taslima Jinnat and SMA Jewel.
Trainer Taslima Jinnat applauded the participants, saying, “These women have demonstrated their capabilities during training and earned these sewing machines through their dedication.”
Director Zakaria Zaman emphasized the program's life-changing potential: “Such initiatives for underprivileged rural women are beginning to yield results. Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s free sewing training and machine distribution promise to transform their lives and empower them for a brighter future.”
Additional Superintendent of Police Ariful Islam commended the effort as a “praiseworthy humanitarian initiative” and expressed optimism for future projects benefiting the community.
