Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute on Wednesday carried out free surgery on 21 cataract patients from Mymensingh at the hospital at Bashundhara Residential Area in the capital. Of them, 12 are women from Gafargaon upazila in the district who had been suffering from severe cataract problems. Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute Director Prof Saleh Ahmed led the operation in association with Dr Moutushi Islam, Dr Mojibor Rahman and Dr Rubina Akhter. Prof Saleh Ahmed said the hospital has been continuing monthly eye camp in different areas to save vision of the cataract patients. Earlier on October 26, Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute and Vision Care Foundation organised the eye camp in Varoil Gandogram Government Primary School in Gafargaon where over 600 patients received treatment. A total of 98 patients were selected for operations as their infection were severe. In first phase, 21 patients underwent operations.
