Sheikh Russel demolish Farashganj SC

It was a much welcome change for Sheikh Russel after being deprived of success in last four consecutive matches while Farashganj fans were disheartened to see their team return to all-familiar losing streak.
For Farashganj the danger of being relegated has become a very likely reality as this loss has sent them to the bottom of the league table.
In the seventeen matches played so far they were able to manage only 10 points which does sum up their performance in this season of the meet.
The inaugural moments of the match actually helped predict how the match would pan out. Sheikh Russel went on the offence right from the commencement of the match.
On the 5th minute Sheikh Russel created their first real chance of earning a goal as their Egyptian attacking midfielder Islam Mohammad Zaky Sarhan had 1:1 opportunity with the Farahsganj goalie, in a bizarre anti-climax he lost the control of the ball on the process.
But their hard work soon paid off as on the 41st minute as Sheikh Russel’s local find Fazle Rabbi broke the deadlock with a stunning goal.
Coming off from the right wing he dribbled his way through two defenders to find himself with an inconvenient angle to the post but despite that hurdle he clinically finished and gave Sheikh Russel the much coveted early lead.
Shafiqul Islam Manik’s boys were far ahead with ball possession but Farashganj goalie Mohammad Mamun Alif stood strong and made sure that his team was not blown away by the Russel onslaught.
Even the ‘Mamun-wall’ was not enough to keep Sheikh Russel skipper Uttam Kumar Banik to score the 237th goal of the tournament with an amazing header off the corner-kick from Mohammad Khalek Zaman.
The tall captain extended Russel’s lead and practically sealed the game for his team. Sheikh Russel Haitian recruit Jaccques Francois was instrumental in the latter part of the game but could do little to increase the goal tally of Russel.
Sheikh Russel team management would be very pleased with this dominating performance as they have already cemented their place in the sixth position of the points table. Mohammedan are in-front of them with the same points. If Sheikh Russel can manage a win in their next match against Mohammedan Sporting Club they will progress to the fifth position.
