Sewing machines distributed to trainees in Bhola

Bashundhara Shuvosangho has distributed sewing machines to women trainees in Charfassion upazila of Bhola as part of its ongoing effort to empower underprivileged women through skill development.

The distribution ceremony was held on Friday morning at the Officers’ Club, where 15 disadvantaged women received sewing machines after completing their training. The event was conducted by Kamrul Sikder, Charfassion correspondent of Kaler Kantho, and presided over by Md Amir Hossain, president of the Charfassion unit of Bashundhara Shuvosangho.

Former General Secretary of the Municipal BNP Khairul Islam Sohel Mia attended the ceremony as the chief guest. Among the special guests were former councilor and youth leader Jahidul Islam Russell, Bashundhara Shuvosangho adviser and acting principal of Charfassion Women’s College Mohiuddin Bachchu, General Secretary of Charfassion Press Club Kamal Goldar, and President of the Bhola District Bashundhara Shuvosangho Md Shafayat Hossain.

The programme was organised under the overall supervision of Shuvosangho Director Jakaria Zaman. Other notable attendees included Upazila Agriculture Officer Nazmul Huda, Organizational Secretary of the Charfassion Shuvosangho committee Nahidul Islam Nayeem, journalist Aminul Islam, and various local dignitaries.

Speakers highly praised Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s humanitarian initiative, noting that the organization is working through its local committees to empower vulnerable and remote communities.

They highlighted Shuvosangho’s previous activities, including arranging Iftar during Ramadan, conducting seminars in schools and colleges to combat drug abuse, providing financial support for the education of underprivileged and differently-abled students, and offering sewing training followed by sewing machine distribution.

One of the trainees, Nahida, expressed her gratitude: “Bashundhara Shuvosangho has provided us with sewing training and machines. This will help us move from hardship toward financial stability. We thank and pray for Bashundhara Group.”

Another recipient, Sharmin Begum, said: “From now on, I can earn an income with this sewing machine and support my husband. It will help us live a better life. I am grateful to Bashundhara Shuvosangho.”
