US Congressman urges Bangladeshis to join the fight against terrorism

US Congressman Peter T. King said the US is committed to combating militancy and terrorism across the globe. The US will not budge from its present stance on this issue, he said, calling on Bangladeshis to work together to combat militancy and terrorism spreading across the world. The US Congressman made this remark at a meeting with East West Media Group and Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir and Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam at his office at Long Island in New York on Friday. During the meeting, they discussed the existing friendly relations between Bangladesh and the USA and other bilateral issues. At the meeting, Sayem Sobhan highlighted the firm stance of the media outlets of the East West Media Group against militancy and terrorism. Congressman Peter T. King, a Republican, is serving his twelfth term in the US House of Representatives. Rep. King is the Chairman of the Sub-Committee on [Counterterrorism and Intelligence]. He also serves on the Financial Services Committee and Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. Congressman King is a strong supporter of the war against international terrorism, both at home and abroad. He is the probable Republican candidate for next US presidential election in 2016.
